One event can wipe the memory of humanity out of existence. Poof, gone, no more. It doesn't surprise me that people don't support space exploration. Less than 1% of congress is scientifically literate. It drives me crazy when I tell people I have a telescope and they say, "So you're into Astrology?" No damnit, NO! Astronomy, ASTRONOMY!
I know exactly what you mean. I was ranting about this the other day. We NEED to have scientifically minded people running this country if we want to have any hope of progressing in the future. We are falling behind every 1st world country because of the scientific ignorance that is spreading through the US. It's embarrassing and there needs to be a change.
